Forgot About that $#!+ Friday: Every Other Juvenile Song
By Joe Parello @HerewegoJoe
Everybody remembers Juvenile's breakthrough hit "Back that Azz Up."
The ode to ass shaking reached No. 15 on the Billboard 100, practically started the "twerk song" movement, introduced the mainstream to Lil Wayne, helped his album 400 Degreez reach 4x Platinum, and paved the way for The Big Tymers to become stars.
But what most people don't remember is that Juvenile had several other hits, including a No. 1 single back in 2003. The reason you don't remember them: They were pretty much all terrible.
So, let's take a look back at some of Juve The Great's other hits.
"U Understand"
After Juve reached mainstream stardom with 400 Degreez, his follow up album Tha G Code was highly anticipated. While it certainly didn't flop, he failed to recreate the magic and commercial success of his last album. The first song off the new album even tried to recreate "Back That Azz Up"'s penchant for rhyming the same word over and over again. Only this time, instead of rhyming "yeah" with "yeah," he rhymes "Ya understand" with "Ya understand."
Memorable Line: "I ain't no p**** ass n**** (ya understand),
I'm a rapper but I'm still a gorilla (ya understand),
I'll whip ya like the Thrilla Manilla (ya understand),
You gon' make me have to kill me a n**** (ya understand)."
"I Got That Fire"
In another hit off of Tha G Code, Juve informs shorties that they should holla at him if they "want that Oscar Meyer." If you can't figure out what that means, he's talking about his wiener. But as many terrible rhymes as Juve has on this song, Mannie Fresh tops him with our memorable line.
Memorable Line: (Mannie Fresh) "And you can tell ya friends you know a… N**** with a dick like a great big co-bra!"
"Mamma Got Ass (Get it From Her Mamma)"
As dumb as "I Got That Fire" was, this song takes the cake in terms of utter stupidity. The song is sort of like the urban version of "Stacy's Mom," and claims that every hot girl got their great traits from their mother. Actually, it's far worse than that, as Juvenile claims that her mamma has a great ass, and that she taught her daughter how to twerk.
Memorable Line: "I wonder why she so crazy? (She get it from her mamma)
Why she wanna be my old lady? (She get it from her mamma) Why she be actin like that? (She get it from her mamma) Why she ain't give me the cat? (She get it from her mamma)"
"Slow Motion"
Juve's only No. 1 single came courtesy of this 2003 dance jam. Teamed up with Soulja Slim (who actually died before the video for the song was made), Juve released the second legitimately good song of his career. It may not be as memorable as "Back that Azz Up," but if you listened to hip hop during the late 90s/early 2000s, you definitely remember this one.
Memorable Line: "It's like I got the world in my palm, yo girl up under my arm, she f****** up from the chong, she love the way the d*** stay hard from 12 till early in the morn."
