Bob Lobel: Rapid Reaction from Boston's ALDS Win
By Bob Lobel @boblobel
Jacoby Ellsbury burst on the scene in the postseason of 2007. He was an instant game changer for the Red Sox at the time.
Fast forward to 2013, and he's still that dynamic game changer. As a matter of fact, Jacoby Ellsbury is on the verge of becoming a very wealthy man. How wealthy and who pays him remains to be seen, but rest assured, it will happen.
It's uncanny, but he obviously took enough time off to get rested for the most important games of his career. And, since he's been back he has done nothing to diminish the brightness of his star. If baseball is a team game, and the Red Sox as a team capture their final goal, Ellsbury will be the guy that A. Makes it happen and B. Gets the biggest reward.
By the way, if playing Gronk against New Orleans would guarantee a win, I'd play him. But, the way things are looking, I'd sit him until the bye week and hope to get to 5-1 without him this week.
