Lobel's Question of the Week: Should the Seahawks Just Shut Up?
Every week, legendary sportscaster Bob Lobel wants to hear your opinion on something that caught his eye over the weekend.
While much of the lead up to Super Bowl XLIX has featured our Patriots and accusations of deflated footballs, their opponents from Seattle have been able to put their 2 cents in as well.
It started with Seahawk cornerback Jeremy Lane discussing Rob Gronkowski and saying "I actually don’t think he’s that good.”
What?
It didn't end there, as outspoken Seattle corner Richard Sherman took a pot shot at Patriots owner Robert Kraft and accused NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell of favoring New England due to the relationship between the two.
Sherman said he didn't believe the NFL would punish the Patriots if they are found guilty of wrongdoing.
"Will they be punished? Probably not," Sherman said. "Not as long as Robert Kraft and Roger Goodell are still taking pictures at their respective homes. You talk about conflict of interest. As long as that happens, it won't affect them at all. Nothing will stop them."
He would go on to discuss the national story line that the Patriots are cheaters, saying that the perception is based in reality.
"Their résumé speaks for itself," Sherman said. "You talk about getting close to the line, this and that. I don't really have a comment about that. Their past is what their past is. Their present is what their present is."
As we all know, Pats coach Bill Belichick has mastered the art of bulletin board material, and the Seahawks just handed New England a wall's worth. So, with the Patriots coming into the Super Bowl, should Seattle just shut up, for their own good?
