Another reminder that these seeds are NOT official until tomorrow morning. That said, we're moving on with some quick thoughts from the D2 North bracket.

Wakefield Ready to Roll?

Wakefield began to turn heads early on in the season with a win against Middlesex League powerhouse Reading. The Warriors finished the season undefeated with hallmark wins over Reading twice, Beverly, Acton-Boxboro, Winchester, and Burlington.

Still, it wasn’t the deepest schedule, but the way Wakefield has rolled over its opponents has been impressive. Led by senior Austin Collard, the Warriors offense has been excellent all season long, and the defense has also kept games out of reach for opponents.

Beverly at Third

The Panthers, usually a force in the D2 North, take a back seat to Wakefield this season. They struggled in their contest at Wakefield, but wouldn’t have to face the Warriors again until a potential sectional final. With nine losses, it was a bit of an off year for Beverly, but it still has some nice wins over Wayland, Marblehead, and Danvers.

The schedule is tarnished, however, with a four game losing streak near the end of the season, and losing six of its final eight contests.

Melrose Making Noise?

Losing three of their last four didn’t help the Red Raiders, but most of their losses were to quality opponents. But, there aren’t many victories over quality opponents. Melrose's best win came against Winchester, but overall there are just four wins against teams over .500.

Melrose could be seen as a sleeper in this bracket, and is one of a few teams that could probably sneak in there, but so far, the Raiders haven’t passed all too many tests.
