Xs & Os: Dennis-Yarmouth Gets Bobby Evans into Space in D5 Final
By John Sarianides (@xnojoe)
FOXBOROUGH - Dennis-Yarmouth beat West Springfield, 37-7, in the Division 5 state championship thanks to a potent spread offensive attack.
Dolphins running back Bobby Evans led the way rushing with 131 yards on 15 carries. Evans scored two rushing touchdowns and also returned an interception for a score.
D-Y operates out of a spread offense that features Evans and Jonah Arsenault, who plays the superback position. The Dolphins use a variety of formations but their staple play is the inside zone.
D-Y ran the inside zone, or midzone, with great effectiveness today. Evans did a great job, as usual, of fitting into the blocking scheme and making a cut when it was there.
West Springfield couldn't set the edge and, because of that, Evans was able to get outside and do damage.
