Xs & Os: Middleboro's Balanced Spread Leads the Red Raiders to D6 Title
By John Sarianides (@xnojoe)
FOXBOROUGH - Middleboro used a balanced spread attack to beat Littleton, 43-20, in the Division 6 Super Bowl Saturday morning at Gillette Stadium.
Dual-threat quarterback Evan Gwozdz and running back Jeremy Soule once again paced the Sachem attack. Gwozdz was 15-17 for 205 yards and four touchdown passes (with his only two incompletions coming on a spike to stop the clock, and a Hail Mary to end the first half).
Gwozdz first touchdown pass was on a fly sweep to senior wide receiver Colin O'Brien.
Middleboro had the ball on the four-yard line, so it was a great red zone call, especially considering the hashmarks are narrower at Gillette Stadium.
Middleboro tied the game and never looked back in a convincing win that snapped a 34-year Super Bowl drought.
